Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.
Attendance and absences
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

School Community Charter
The School Community Charter outlines the responsibilities of parents, carers, educators, and school staff in NSW public schools to ensure our learning environments are collaborative, supportive, and cohesive.
Effective School Communication Guidelines
We are requesting that if parents wish to contact their class teacher via email, they do so via the office newcastlee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au and then this will be forwarded to the class teacher. You will receive a generic response back and then the class teacher will reach out, usually by phone, to answer your questions. This will be a shift away from our regular practice and more in line with NSW DET policy and procedures. Using the School Community Charter, we have developed NEPS' effective communication guidelines. These guidelines are not designed to stop communication but to make sure that the two-way communication we pride ourselves on with our school community, remains professional at all times.
